You may have seen information about weight loss injections (GLP-1 agonists). Please note GP surgeries are NOT ALLOWED BY NHS to prescribe injections purely for weight loss. So, much as we would like to help you with your weight, sadly, this service is not available on the NHS at General Practice. This is outside our control.
There are Specialist weight management clinics in hospital (Tier 3) that are able to prescribe weight loss injections. However , in Leicester, the specialist service is currently on hold due to increased demand and we are not allowed to refer you to them. Again, we are sorry but this is local NHS Policy and outside of our control.
There are many private clinics and some pharmacies who offer this injection service privately. Please search for them and contact one of them if you want to pay privately.
Please use the link to self refer to weight management service (Tier 2). This service does NOT prescribe weight loss injections.
Please see below the services available in Leicester to help you on your weight loss journey. They DO NOT prescribe injections.
• Live Well Leicester
• Parks, leisure centres and outdoor gyms Active Leicester
• Community activities and other resources Let’s Get Moving | Active Together (activetogether.org)
• NHS guidance on managing weight
• NHS weight loss app
• NHS healthy eating information
There will be upcoming changes to the service later this year (from July 2023). For Patient instructionas and Recipt From, please visit Semen Analysis and Sperm Storage (leicesterfertilitycentre.org.uk);
