Patient Participation Group

Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) are made up of volunteers interested in healthcare issues which meet to decide ways and means of making a positive contribution to the services and facilities offered by the surgery to patients.

They are an excellent way for practices to keep in touch with the patient perspective and improve the patient experience.  They can also help to influence the commissioning of services and support the practice through more practical ways like fundraising or organising support groups.

For more information re PPG please see the PPG presentation slides.

If you would like to join, please download our patient participation group flyer, and complete the consent form and return to us, or complete the simple form below:

Please note PPG is not a forum for individual complaints or for single issue campaigns.

This practice has been successfully running a Patient Participation Group since 2004. The patients meet to discuss their needs and how to improve services. The chairperson is Mrs Nasima Miah. The forum is held every 2 months.

We welcome patients from all different ethnic backgrounds and different age groups.

We strongly believe the ideas, feedback and suggestions contributed from our PPG benefit us to improve our patient experience. If you’d like to know more or want to get involved, please contact the practice manager by emailing at highfield-surgery.noreply@nhs.net.Either the practice manager or the PPG chair will contact you.

Following the discussion with the representatives of the Patient Participation Group (PPG), these are the changes agreed between the representatives and us;

  1. To reduce the Did Not Attend (DNA) rates, we have put up notices in reception encouraging patients to give us their mobile number by which then can receive appointment reminder.
  2. For patients’ convenience, both the doctors are available throughout the day for telephone advice. Best time to speak to the doctors is after 1:00pm however, they can ring at any time. Should the doctor be unable to take call we offer a call back by the doctor. Patients can also ring us if thinking of going to Accident & Emergency (A&E).
  3. We have put up notices in reception to encourage patients to join our PPG. Any patients wishing to join may contact the practice manager.
  4. We are organising a special NHS Health Checks clinics as requested by the PPG.
  5. We are planning to have dedicated Flu clinics at the time of Flu season to maximise the number of patients being vaccinated for influenza.
